The most recent addition to the Pulsar range offers a “naked” design and is probably sports the most advanced composition with the innovative mechanical upgrades. The NS is for “Naked Sports” and with its ground breaking design it ushers in a new era in styling. The front on look is aggressive and the overall appearance is very sharp. It is an impressive and handsome package which is available in four attractive colours. In spite of all the innovations in design and mechanics, the Pulsar 200 NS also retains some of the touches that are singularly Pulsar.
It is currently priced at approximately Rs 91, 500 (Ex-Showroom Price, New Delhi) but the prices may vary from place to place.
The sporty look of the bike is highlighted by the high tail light and crouched deportment. The beautifully sculpted body gives it the street fighter appearance with the bulging fuel tank of the Pulsars giving way to a sleeker one. The exhaust is neatly placed in the underbelly which also adds to the balance and stability of the bike and visually makes the bike symmetrical on both sides. The foot pegs and other switch gear fitments are of good quality.
The 200 NS is powered by a 199.5 cc engine that is liquid cooled. It delivers an impressive 18.3 Nm of torque @ 8,000 rpm and 23.17 bhp @ 9,500 rpm. The four stroke, SOHC single cylinder motor delivers power in a linear manner throughout the rev range and it is very commuter friendly in spite of the sporty look. The low end and mid range is particularly impressive and cruising well past the three figure mark is literally a breeze for this bike.
The combination of short wheelbase with a high upright seat makes it agile and effortless to ride. It does not shy away from corners and the tyres and suspension come together to give it that sporty feel on the long straight stretches.
