The race for automakers offering customers with premium feature laden models seems a never ending one. They are always primed against each other in a bid to become the foremost front runner.
To build up their repertoire, an automobile company offers a range of options under different price bracket. One such bracket beckons the wrath of Maruti Suzuki’s Baleno against Hyundai’s Creta. Let’s unravel what these two machines vilify against.
Maruti Suzuki bridged the gap between Swift and other premium hatchbacks with Baleno. It made its entry in 2015 and was appraised throughout.
Hyundai Creta remains a new entrant of SUV, primarily inspired from its eldest sibling Santa Fe. This was made its way in India last year and has grown in stature.
Comparing an SUV with a premium hatchback might seem overstretched, but how about we dream it all along.
Maruti Baleno features a VVT engine with petrol and diesel variants. It is laden with 1.2 l engine and bears a displacement of 1197 cc. Although another variant of it features 1.3 l 16V DDiS engine with a displacement of 1248 cc.
Hyundai Creta, on the other hand, features 1.6 l VTVT engine with a displacement of 1591 cc for petrol variant and has another variant of 1.4 l CRDI engine with 1396 cc engine displacement.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno peaks a power of 83.1 Bhp with a max torque of 115 Nm while Hyundai Creta offers 121.3 Bhp of power and a torque of 151 Nm.
They both feature 4-valve cylinder and bears MPFI fuel supply system. Although, the 1.4 l variant from Hyundai bears CRDI fuel system.
Hyundai Creta is equipped with the6-speed transmission as opposed to 5-speed transmission of Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
Hyundai Creta bears a fuel tank capacity of 55 ltr and has a mileage of 15.29 km/ltr for highway while the mileage for thecity remains 11.2 km/ltr. Another variant of it offers 21.38 km/ltr for highway and 18.3 km/ltr in city areas.
On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki Baleno has a fuel tank capacity of 37 ltr with a mileage of 21.4 km/ltr for highway and 17.8 km/ltr for city areas. Another variant of it offers 27.39 km/ltr for highway and 22.59 km/ltr for city areas.
Suspension & Steering
The front suspension of both cars boast of MacPherson Strut but the difference lies in the rear suspension. The rear suspension of Hyundai Creta features Coupled Torsion Beam Axle while Maruti Suzuki Baleno rears Torsion Beam. Furthermore, Hyundai Creta bears coil spring shock absorber type.
Both of them bear power steering while Hyundai Creta comes equipped with tilt steering column and Maruti Suzuki Baleno has tilt one. The turning radius is set at 5.3 meters for Hyundai Creta while Maruti Suzuki Baleno has 4.9 meters.
Seating and Boot Space
The seating capacity for both Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai Creta is 5 people. The number of doors for both are 5 too.
The boot space and cargo volume are maintained at 400 ltr for Hyundai Creta and 339 ltr for Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
