The new machine is driven by a 125 cc SI Advanced HET (Honda Eco Technology) four-stroke engine. It manages to churn out 10.57 bhp @ 7500 rpm and 10.30 Nm torque @ 5500 rpm. The five-speed gearbox also enables it to reach three-figure speeds. The peppy machine easily negotiates heavy city traffic and also is comfortable for longer rides. With a decent mileage of around 55 kmpl, it also does not burn a hole in your pocket. A little bit of sensible handling can lead to better returns on your petrol investment. The grunt of the motor adds a little spunk as compared to the docility of the older model. The bike is composed throughout the rev range and the shorter gearing provides smooth acceleration.

Honda has also added the Combi Braking System (CBS) on the new Shine and it changes the way bikes respond to braking. It does take time to get used to. The suspension on the Shine was always great and the new CB Shine has also inherited those qualities with a little more sharpening. The spring-loaded hydraulic type rear suspension and the telescopic set up at the front provide great comfort and handle most situations easily. The comfortable seats and the convenient posture they provide are attractions as well for this bike.

The new instrument console is well-positioned and attention to detail has been given by the engineers, however, the clock which is a standard on some other Honda motorcycles is conspicuous by its absence. The headlamp is bright and provides sufficient illumination to provide a safe ride at night.
