Owning a vehicle isn’t only luxury these days, in today’s modern world a car is a necessity. Maruti Suzuki Baleno is a modern hatchback that would certainly own the young executive or a family guy’s heart, whereas the Ford EcoSport was born to run any terrain without fear, no stopping.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno is a hatchback, however it almost looks like a sedan. The design and performance aspects are taken from the Maruti Suzuki Swift which is an iconic hatchback in the whole world. Anyone who praises smaller vehicles with immense power, capability and lower maintenance, would surely prefer the Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
On the other hand, the Ford EcoSport was made entirely for a different purpose. Go anywhere, be anything – that’s what Ford EcoSport helps someone achieve. No matter if you are planning to ride in the city or planning few visits to your factory in the urban outskirts, the Ford Ecosport would get things done in no trouble.
Among different variants of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, the most popular version is the automatic transmission 1.2 liter VVT petrol engine. Displacement on this engine is 1197 CC, friendly on your pocket and the tax structure. There diesel variants are costlier, the fuel cost would be lesser with a 1.3L DDiS 1248cc diesel engine. The power figures are 83bhp and 115Nm for the petrol engine.
On the other hand, the most popular variant of the Ford EcoSport in India comes with a 1.5L Ti-VCT engine, available in Petrol and Diesel. The engine displacement on the petrol variant is 1499 cc. The maximum power it pulls off is 110 bhp, and the maximum torque is 140Nm.
Both vehicles have front wheel drive (FWD) drive trains; however few variants of the EcoSport offer full time 4WD.
In highway driving, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno can provide up to 27 Kmpl and the capacity of the fuel tank on this car is 37 kilometers. It’s a perfect highway rider. For city driving, the mileage is around 15-20 kmpl.
On the other hand, Ford EcoSport is much lesser in mileage because it goes the extra distance for you, in off-road. The city mileage is 10-12 kmpl in the EcoSport and highway mileage 22 kmpl max. The fuel tank is 52 liters.
Suspension and Steering
The front suspension in Maruti Suzuki Baleno is McPherson Strut, and in the rear the Baleno only gets a Torsion bar.
However, Ford EcoSport is made with more advanced suspension since it is off-road capable. It has independent McPherson strut bar with anti-roll bar in front, and the rear suspension comes with semi-independent twist beam with twin shock absorbers, filled with gas and oil.
Seating and Boot Space
Seating space in both these vehicles are standard. Both Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Ford EcoSport are capable of seating 5 people at ease.
However, despite being an SUV the boot space isn’t significantly larger in the Ford EcoSport. Baleno has 339L and the EcoSport only has 346L in the boot.
