The synopsis
Maruti Suzuki has upped their ante with the recent new models like Baleno, Ciaz, Vitara Brezza, and more. But this one’s an all different ball game. The low compact SUV named Ignis is yet to be released in the market. It’s tipped for the later part of the year.
Mahindra and Mahindra, known for their rogue-modeled automobiles launched one low compact SUV named KUV100 which created quite a buzz. It’s currently one of the top sellers in this segment and is preferred by much.

Engine & Transmission
Maruti Ignis
This one is tipped to have dual variants, i.e. petrol engine and diesel engine variant in the market. The petrol engine has a 1.2 ltr displacement with a power of 84.3 PS @ 6000 Rpm and a torque of 115 Nm @ 4000 Rpm.
The diesel one has a 1.3 ltr turbo engine with a power of 75 PS @ 4000 Rpm and a torque of 190 Nm @ 2000 Rpm.
The wheel driveline for this one isn’t yet confirmed. We’ll have more on that once released.

Mahindra KUV100
Mahindra KUV100 also has petrol and diesel engine variant but there’s a similarity in the engine displacement between them. Both feature an 1198 cc engine with 5-speed manual transmission.
The petrol one has a power of 82 PS @5500 Rpm and a torque of 115 Nm @ 3500-3600 Rpm. The diesel one has a power of 77 PS @3750 Rpm and a torque of 190 Nm @1750-2250 Rpm. It features a front-wheel driveline for both variants.
Mileage
Maruti Ignis is expected to have an ARAI-certified mileage of 21 km/ltr for the petrol engine and 27 km/ltr for a diesel engine.
Mahindra KUV100 features a fuel tank capacity of 35 ltr with an ARAI- certified mileage of 18.15 km/ltr for the petrol variant and 25.32 km/ltr for the diesel variant.
Suspension & Dimension
The exact specs for the suspension and steering haven’t been released yet but we do have insider knowledge on the dimensions. It’s tipped to have a length of 3700 mm with a wheelbase of 2438 mm. the breadth and height shall remain at 1660mm and 1595 mm.
Mahindra KUV100 packs independent McPherson Strut with offset coil spring for the front suspension. It is further supported by twin-tube gas damper units and lower L-arms with a stabilizer bar. The rear suspension is equipped with a semi-transparent, twist beam with coil springs and hydraulic shock absorbers.
The dimension for Mahindra KUV100 stands at 3675mm x 1715mm x 1635mm with a wheelbase of 2385mm.
Seating and Boot Space
Maruti Ignis is expected to have 5 passenger seating capacity in 2-seating rows. The boot space for it is 258 ltr.
Mahindra KUV100 has a 6-passenger seating capacity with 5 doors attached to the sides and back. It has a boot space of 243 ltr.
Amenities & Features
Maruti Ignis will have power steering, power windows, engine immobilizer, central locking, automatic climate control, touchscreen infotainment system, and multifunction steering control. The safety measures shall have airbags and ABS.
Mahindra KUV100 offers an engine immobilizer, child safety locks, power steering, multifunction display, ventilation system, power steering, and more. Safety precautionary like airbags, ABS, and EBD comes equipped within.
